One person was killed and six others — all employees at a Tannersville nail salon — were injured Sunday morning when their minivan struck a tree in Jackson Township.

Police said Sunday night that Bo Wang, a 25-year-old female from Flushing, N.Y., a passenger in the vehicle, was fatally injured in the crash.

The crash occurred around 10 a.m. on Route 715 near Mountain Road. The 2010 Toyota Sienna minivan was traveling north on Route 715 when the driver lost control of the vehicle, troopers said. The van traveled across the southbound lane, leaving the roadway and striking a tree head on, Monroe County Coroner Bob Allen said.

The passengers were employees at the New Li Nail Spa in Tannersville, Allen said. The driver was identified as 53-year-old Guiying Hou, owner/operator of the salon.

On Sunday afternoon, New Li was closed. Neighbors in the Fountain Springs West Plaza said the nail salon is usually open daily.

“Except maybe Christmas,” said Kevin Allen of Kariz Cutz barber shop.

Kevin Allen said he’s worked beside the business for two years and has gotten to know the employees. He was emotional after hearing one of them had been killed in the crash.

“They’re good people,” he said of the employees.
