Criminal charges against an Elizabethville woman accused of physically abusing her 15-month-old son are headed to Dauphin County Court.
District Judge Rebecca Margerum sent the counts of aggravated assault and child endangerment against Mackenzie Gordy, 20, to court after a preliminary hearing Tuesday, the Dauphin County District Attorney’s Office said.
That hearing included medical testimony and photographs that Chief Deputy District Attorney Sean McCormack said show a “pattern of abuse” that might have gone on for months.
Investigators said Gordy was charged in September after the baby’s father, who doesn’t live with Gordy, took the boy to Holy Spirit Hospital when he noticed bruising on the child’s head and that his son had a high fever and was listless and pale.
The tot was quickly sent to Hershey Medical Center for emergency surgery to repair a torn bowel, authorities said.
Gordy’s attorney, Casey Shore, could not immediately be reached for comment Wednesday.
